"She was a huge part of my life for three years, she was actually my first true love. I don't mind having my heart broken after our break-up because it let me tap into my emotions on a deeper level and gave me confidence to make myself vulneruble in a song. The album became a huge hit, it is our best album to date and I have her to thank, and I really to wish her the best of luck with starting a family with her fiancee."
On their break-up;
"It was definitely not mutual, as you can probably tell from the tracks on the album. She was ready to move on, and I was not. I knew she would be blamed by the media for the break-up and because I loved her I tried to protect her and made out like it was all because of me."
On writing the album, "For The Girl Named Lofty";
"Half the record was fun to write, because we were in this, happy, healthy and strong relationship and I wanted to tell the world how in love I was, but the other half of the album was right after we split up and it was so hard to write, I had all these feelings that I couldn't put down in paper and all these things I wanted to say to her but I wouldn't put into words. Eventually, I wrote down what I had to say and they became hits because people could relate to them."
On their three year relationship;
"I was the most loving, healthiest and happiest relationship I've ever been in, to this day. I still love her, but I think we're definitely better off apart now. Would I ever want her back? If you would have asked me that last year, I would have said yes, of course, but right now, no. I realise there is too much water under the bridge and things just would not be the same."
Daaaaamn, Brigitte has inspired some KICK-ARSE songs becase she dates and befriends so many musicians, and she should keep doing that because they are some of the best songs ever written! She's apparently inspired these songs;
- The whole album, "For a Girl Named Lofty", by the Royals of Lindin
- "The Lady Wears Black", "A Time To Forget", "Learn from it", "The Irony is not lost on me, "Her Charms", "Exhausted", "The Good Girl" & "The Maiden" by Shayd Lancaster (The Crater Faces)
- "Knives" & "Hell of a Fun Timer" by Craven Frost
- "Envying is Living" & "Kick Back" & by Tommi Taylor (Dirty Eden)
- "The Girl from the Southern Lights" by Jayke Runson (Bat Bicker)
- "We Might as Well as Wll Turn back time" by Ellis Sanders (Korrobborate)
- "She Makes Me Believe In The World" by Alex Horace
- "The Beautiful People" by Mike Made
My personal favourite is, "For a Girl Named Lofty", here are the lyrics incase you don't know the song (WHICH YOU SHOULD!)
You’re Late, I wait
I shake, You hate
I pray, You’ll see
Why is it that only you decide our fate?
Heartbreak, Heartbreak, is this the only way to end?
Heartbreak, Heartbreak, just let me fix it with my own hands
This is all I can take
Spare me reasons
I’ll have to make up my own
We both know this was not fault of mine
But to protect you from the sea, I’ll still let you shine
I’ll run into yesterday and stop what is waiting for me
But you’re still so beautiful
I can’t help myself
You’re such a wonder
You’re such a jewel
To think this would be forever, I’m such a fool
But I swear I’ll be just fine
It will only hurt for a little while
Without your remedies, it will be rough
Heartbreak, Heartbreak, sleeps with me through the night
Heartbreak, Heartbreak, please just let me forget you
Your pretty, delicate hands are the death of me
Please understand why
I can’t keep this ache inside of me
I just can’t hide
Break me, Break me
All I’ve ever wanted was to make you happy
Shake me, Shake me
You shook my love out of your life, so easy
Speak to me, Speak to me
The silence is slaughtering me
Don’t I even deserve your words?
Oh please just kill me
Never once have I lived this agony
Yours is all I can be
Heartbreak, Heartbreak, all I have are the reminding times
Heartbreak, Heartbreak, I lied when I told you I’d never do this
Look at me now, Look at you now
Look at what we’ve become
Weren’t we just fine once?
